The EP635 Fireball IR Pedal: a Fireball on your pedalboard
The Fireball amplifier has earned its reputation over two decades of hardcore metal, punk, thrash and rock players reaching for it when they need high-gain that stays articulate at extreme settings. The EP635 takes those essential elements from the amplifier and engineers it into a compact pedal enclosure – not just a “Fireball-style” approximation, but a faithful, meticulous, translation of the original preamp design.
For players running fly rigs, hybrid setups with modellers, or simply looking to pair Fireball tones with a different power amp, this is the most direct route to that sound we’ve ever offered. This pedal has become a firm favourite with the ENGL team and we know you are gonna love it!
What you get
- Two independent channels – The EP635 is a proper two-channel preamp, with independent knob settings for each channel. You can keep your rhythm tone dialled in and switch to a tighter or more saturated lead voicing without re-adjusting controls mid-set.
- Midboost switch – Engaged when you need to cut through a dense mix, this pulls extra midrange forward without muddying the low end. It’s particularly useful for solos in drop tunings, where the standard EQ might otherwise sit too far back.
- Advanced noise gate – High-gain pedals live or die by their noise gate, and the EP635’s gate tracks dynamics cleanly. Palm mutes stay tight, sustained notes don’t choke, and the pedal remains tame and quiet between phrases.
- IR loading via USB-C – Load your own Impulse Responses using the included software and run the EP635 straight to front of house, into a DAW, or into headphones. Add your favourite cab IR and the pedal becomes a complete direct rig.
- Headphone output – Silent practice with no additional hardware. Plug in headphones, dial in an IR, and you have a recording-quality tone at any volume. Perfect for bedroom practice as well as touring!
- Full EQ and Presence controls – Volume, Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble and Presence are all on the pedal. Nothing is hidden in menus, nothing requires a phone app to access. Set it like you would an amp.
